Amateur Baseball: Cannon Falls takes down Pine Island
The Cannon Falls Bears piled up 14 hits Wednesday in an 8-5 victory against Pine Island at John Burch Park in Cannon Falls.
Aaron Stein picked up the victory in relief for the Bears, throwing five innings and allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two.
Josh Harrison led Cannon Falls at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI. Keith Meyers was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Brandon Voth went 1-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored and Luke Winchell finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.
The Pioneers tallied 10 hits in the loss.
The Bears fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but stormed back with five runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth inning for a 7-2 lead. Pine Island added a run in the fifth inning but Cannon Falls got it back in the sixth inning.
The Pioneers' final two runs came in the eighth inning.
