Amateur Baseball: Cannon Falls loses late to Hastings

Cannon Falls tied Wednesday’s matchup with Hastings at 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth, but the Hawks tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to take a 3-1 victory in Cannon Falls.


Nate Otto and Luke Winchell each had two hits for the Bears, and Taylor Pagel brought home Billy Coakley with an RBI single in the eighth. Luke Winchell pitched all nine innings, striking out four and allowing 10 hits in the loss.

Hastings’ Colin Coan and Andy Sammon each had a pair of hits, with Sammon driving in a run. Jordan Jeske was 1-for-5 with a double and two RBI.

Cannon Falls plays in the Arlington/Gaylord High Life Invite this weekend, opening the tournament against the Milroy Irish Saturday in Arlington.
