Amateur Baseball: Bombers pick up two wins
Bay City picked up a pair of wins last weekend with a 6-4 victory over St. Croix Falls Saturday and a 5-0 win over Hudson in Bay City.
The Bombers (10-18, 5-10 SCVBL) scored all six of their runs in the last two innings to beat St. Croix Falls. Bay City trailed 4-0 heading into the eighth inning when it cut the lead to 4-2 and scored four runs in the ninth to win in St. Croix.
Tony Schultz came through with an RBI single in the ninth and Jordan Eggenberger hit a two-run double to put the Bombers up 5-4. One batter later Justin Lance singled to left field to put Bay City up 6-4.
Schultz finished 1-for-5 with a run and an RBI and Eggenberg went 1-for-5 with two RBI. Bump Ulvenes went 1-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Cole Kuesel got the win in relief of Eggenberger. Kuesel went 3 2/3 innings and allowed one hit and struck out two.
Schultz threw a seven-hit shutout Sunday against Hudson to help lead Bay City to the win. Schultz did not allow a walk and struck out five.
Ulvenes went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI and two stolen bases while Lance finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double and Andrew Sandstrom went 1-for-3 with a run and stolen base.
The Bombers will face Red Wing Friday in Red Wing and Prescott Sunday in Bay City.
