Cannon Falls 5, Minnesota Lake 1

Cannon Falls left nine runners on base, but did put five across home plate to defeat Minnesota Lake, 5-1, on Saturday. Bears’ ace Keith Meyers did the rest, striking out 17 Royals while allowing one earned run on four hits over nine innings.

Cannon Falls opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Ryan Brintnall singled home Brandon Voth, who had reached earlier in the inning on a base on balls.

In the third, Meyers singled, and was later brought home on a base hit from Rich Burr. Meyers scored again in the fourth when Luke Winchell brought Meyers around with an RBI double. Meyers himself had an RBI double in the inning, scoring Brintnall, who scored Cory Hedeen with the first double of the fourth.

Eli Walters had the lone RBI for Minnesota Lake, while Thomas Nowak suffered the loss, going all eight innings and allowing five earned runs on nine hits and four walks.
