Ron Hunt, local artist and columnist, will portray Mark Twain at the Wabasha County Historical Society Museum at 2 p.m. Sunday Sept. 15 in Reads Landing.

Although he has presented his one-man show numerous times, this will be the first time he will appear on this side of the Mississippi.

In "Conversation With Mark Twain" Hunt protrays the American author and humorist.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known as Mark Twain, grew up in Hannibal, MO. The community and river provided the settings of two of his books, "Huckleberry Finn" and "Tom Saywer."

The event is free for historical society members, $5 for non-members.

The Lake City Historical Society is sponsoring the talk "Banjos, Steamboats and the Mississippi River" by Dr. Denny Robertson. He will illustrate his talk with colorful images and sounds associated with the river as it journeys 2,400 miles from its source in Minnesota down to New Orleans. Robertson, a member of the band Turkey River All-stars, will punctuate his talk with live banjo licks.
