Henkel Foundation donates to Habitat for Humanity
The Henkel Foundation, a nonprofit Minnesota-based entity established by Henkel's Bergquist Co, made a contribution to the local Habitat for Humanity organization that will enable the charitable group to fund a land purchase on which to build affordable housing in the Cannon Falls area.
"The Henkel Foundation seeks to partner with local charities that enhance the well-being of our community, while providing an opportunity for collaborative service that extends beyond the essential financial support," said Jonathan Rowntree, Henkel Foundation president. "Habitat for Humanity offers a way for our organization to be directly involved in the charitable work, as many local Henkel employees will take part in the home build once the land is secured. We are humbled to be part of this project and happy to assist with such a meaningful endeavor that has a long-lasting, positive impact."
The Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity affiliate recently completed two homes in Cannon Falls and wants to maintain an ongoing presence in the community with additional housing development. Sourcing affordable land, however, is challenging. Contributions like the one from the Henkel Foundation are essential to ensuring ongoing Habitat initiatives.
With the first installment of the contribution received, Goodhue County Habitat has initiated its search for a home site and hopes to complete construction by the end of 2018.
