POTTERY PLACE City of Red Wing

Notice is hereby given that the Red Wing City Council will hold a second public hearing in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 7:00 pm to hear and make a recommendation on a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) request by Pottery Place LLC, 614 W. Lake Street, Suite 5, Minneapolis, MN 55408 for a major change to the Pottery Place Planned Unit Development (PUD), 2000 Old West Main Street. The Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission conducted a public hearing regarding the request at their February 18, 2014 meeting; however, an inadvertent error in the notification of all property owners within 500 feet of the subject property has caused the City Council to conduct a second public hearing. The applicant is proposing to construct an additional residential apartment on the fourth floor of the building, to convert retail space on the second floor to nine (9) residential apartments, and to construct eleven (11) detached garages on the site. The original PUD was approved in 1984; the Red Wing Zoning Ordinance requires a Conditional Use Permit to approve a “major change” to an existing PUD. The underlying zoning of the property is Mixed Use Commercial Tourism (MCT); the MCT district allows Multiple Family Residential (5+ Units) with the issuance of a CUP.
The legal description of this property is as follows: Lot 1, Block 1, and Outlot A, of THE POTTERY DEVELOPMENT COMPANY SUBDIVISION, City of Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota; and CONDOMINIUM NUMBER 3 THE POTTERY CONDOMINIUM, City of Red Wing, Goodhue County Minnesota. More commonly known as 2000 Old West Main Street.
Written or oral comments to said application may be presented at this public hearing or filed with the City Clerk prior to this hearing. Each response will be duly considered and evaluated before any formal action is taken by the Planning Commission.
