Invitation to Bid
Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received until 2:00 P.M. Daylight Savings Time on
Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Room 309, County Administrator, in the Goodhue County
Government Building, 509 W. 5th St., Red Wing, Minnesota, for the construction of a vehicle
storage building at 435 W. 5th St.
Project Description: Work consists of a one- story slab-on-grade building of concrete and brick
masonry with a roof of steel bar joists, and other work as described in Construction
Documents prepared by Setzer Architects, 2000 W. Main St., Red Wing, MN 55066.
Bid Opening: One single bid will be received for all work, at the time and place indicated above.
Bids received after that time will be returned unopened. Bids shall be submitted on the Bid
Form included in the Specifications, in a sealed envelope with the words “ Attention: Scott
Arneson,” and “Facilities Maintenance Garage Bid” clearly written on the outside.
Immediately after the specified closing time bids will be opened publicly and read aloud. All
interested persons are invited to attend.
Bid Security: Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check or Bid Bond in the amount of
five (5) per cent of the submitted Bid, made payable to Goodhue County, as a guarantee
that the Bidder will, If awarded the Contract, enter into said Contract in accordance with his
proposal and the Contract Documents.
Procurement of Documents: Construction Documents for the work consists of drawings and
specifications will be available August 22, and may be viewed at the office of the County
Administrator during regular office hours and at the Builders Exchanges in Minneapolis, St.
Paul, Rochester and Mankato. Bidding Documents will also be available for viewing and
downloading on the website
Site Visits: Bidders are encouraged to visit the site. A pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday,
August 27, at 10:00 A.M. Interested parties should meet in the rotunda of the Law
Enforcement Center at 430 W. 6th St.
Bonding Requirements: The successful bidder will be required to provide a Performance Bond
and Payment Bond in the amount of 100 percent of the Contract Amount.
Right to Reject: The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive
irregularities in the bidding procedures as it deems to be in its best interest. Bids may not be
withdrawn for a period of 30 calendar days after the date upon which bids are received.
