LAKE CITY — Award-winning journalist, television producer and host, and syndicated radio personality Rudy Maxa will speak here Friday, Oct. 6.
Maxa is the host and executive producer of 85 half-hour travel shows are broadcast on public television in the United States and on Travel Channel International overseas, and have won two regional Emmy awards. In addition, Maxa hosts America's most widely syndicated radio travel show, "Rudy Maxa's World."
Maxa's journalism career started with the Washington Post and then he went to the Washingtonian. He is an award-winning contributing editor with National Geographic Traveler and has authored two nonfiction books, "Dare to be Great" and "Public Trust, Private Lust."
Maxa will be sharing anecdotes from his broad travels and entertaining questions from the audience. He is appearing in Lake City as a benefit for Lake City Area Arts, a nonprofit organization that supports the enjoyment and creation of visual and performing arts in the Lake City area.
"It's going to be an entertaining and enlightening night," said Pat Blum, chairperson of the LCAA committee hosting the event.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at Kennedy Drug or Treats and Treasures in Lake City. Seating is limited. The event will be held at the Lake City Sportsman Club, 2200 S. Oak St., Lake City. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for light refreshments and a cash bar. The program will begin at 7 p.m.
