Ski, snowshoe or hike by candlelight at Frontenac State Park
Frontenac State Park Association will present the Candlelight Ski Party Saturday, Jan. 14, at the park.
Everyone is invited to enjoy a 1-mile gently-rolling trail by boot, ski or snowshoe 6-8 p.m. Afterward, warm up by a wood fire with cocoa and snacks provided by the Frontenac State Park Association. Visitors also can join in games, puzzles and coloring in the shelter.
The event is free, but vehicles do need a permit. To save time, you can get your vehicle permit in advance. Visit mndnr.gov/reservations, log in (or create an account), click on "entry permit," select a duration of one-day ($5) or year-round ($25) and continue as directed. You'll receive an email with a permit that can be printed and displayed in your vehicle during your visit.
Double check with Frontenac State Park closer to the date because this event may be canceled due to bad weather or unsafe snow and ice conditions. Call 651-345-3401.
The FSPA is co-hosting this event with the Minnesota Department Natural Resources. The association is planning additional events throughout the season. To help with these efforts, contact FSPA President Brian Schreiber at firstname.lastname@example.org.
