Business Notebook: Red Wing lactation team honored

Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing recently was recognized for excellence in lactation care by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners and International Lactation Consultant Association.

The IBCLC Care Award is given to staffing professionals who hold the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification and provide a lactation program available five to seven days a week.

“This recognition highlights the efforts being made by maternity facilities all across the world to help mothers get off to a good start with breastfeeding, and to support them in reaching their goals,” ILCA President Decalie Brown said.

To be considered for certification, the lactation team initiated public outreach projects, such as working with the the Red Wing Public Library to provide books to new moms and their babies.

The team has received the biennial award three consecutive times. Registered nurse Anne Beckman has been certified as an ICBLC for nearly 20 years.

•Red Wing resident Cindy Adolph, Merchants Bank vice president, will now be the risk, compliance and audit manager for Merchants, the company said.

“Addressing and mitigating risk is one of the most important challenges facing banking today and in the coming years,” Merchants Bank Senior Vice President and CFO Sue Savat said. “Cindy has been leading our efforts to date in this important field. Formalizing and focusing her energies will add an even sharper point to this significant area.”
