Cannon River Watershed honored

Cannon River Watershed recently shared honors with two state lawmakers, a county commissioner and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The watershed won one of Trust for Public Land's annual Conservation Leadership Awards.

The Partnership was recognized for its dedication to improving the Cannon River. In 2011, that included measures to protect the Dora Lake Wildlife Management Area, LeSueur County.

All the water that drains into the watershed eventually passes through Cannon Falls, Welch and Red Wing before joining the Mississippi River.

Roe, a financial consultant, qualified for Summit Circle based on 2011 performance. This is the organization's second-highest recognition level for sales and service. Seven percent of Thrivent Financial's nearly 2,300 financial representatives qualified for this honor.

Hawe, a financial associate, qualified for Sierra level for 2011 sales and service. Thrivent reported that 700 individuals qualified for this honor.

St. Pepin is a 100 percent estate-grown wine, which means that all of the grapes come from the vineyard in Goodhue County's Sogn Valley.
